Tiffany DaSilva

  • Title: VP Business Development
  • Degrees: Communications & Cultural Studies Critical Theory, McMaster University. Currently enrolled in Norwich University’s MBA Program.
  • Specializations: Event Marketing, Web Marketing, Vendor Relations & Negotiations
  • Favorite Eco-friendly Tip: If 10,000 people switched over to electronic billing with just one credit card account, over a lifetime we'll save a collective 3,481 trees.
  • Favorite Green Event Planning Tip: Want the perfect gift for your attendees? Instead of giving away a “token” of your appreciation that can easily be thrown away why not donate to your favorite charity instead, purchase fair trade items for all, or even find an organization that does both – giving you a fair trade item in exchange for a donation?
  • Did You Know: Some of the most beautiful venues for a party are not “venues” at all! Take a look at the local attractions offered in your area – an old manor, aboriginal art museum, or conservation park perhaps? Who knows! Your creativity might even warrant you a discount!
  • Tiffany always knew she would be an entrepreneur beginning with owning her first ecommerce at the age of nine. Born in Ontario, but raised in New Hampshire, she was raised with a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Blended with her degree in communications from McMaster University, Tiffany's love of the outdoors which led her to Talen Events, an event coordination company with a strong focus on environmental sustainability. Finding new wedding locations and event vendors are her passion and she loves all of the new people she has met in her travels thus far. In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys surfing, hiking and exploring hidden neighborhood gems for tasty treats.

Amalia Ward

  • Title: VP Operations
  • Degrees: History & Political Science, York University. Event & Meeting Management Certificate, George Brown College.
  • Specializations: Event Planning, Budgeting, Themes
  • Favorite Eco-friendly Tip: If you change the settings on your washing machine to wash in cold water, not only will your clothes be just as clean and won’t fade as much but you can save up to $100 on your heating bill and 130 kilograms in green house gas emissions. If all Canadians were to do this, we would save 1.5 billion kilograms in CO2 emissions.
  • Favorite Green Event Planning Tip: So you have your fair trade or seasonal flowers bouquet and you don’t know what to do with it why not dry out your flowers and make a potpourri for your new home that way you will have a little piece of your special day to brighten your senses every day.
  • Did You Know: A unique way to set your flower arrangements apart from other events is to incorporate wild flowers into your arrangement; this will allow you to use something from the earth and will give your event that unique and memorable touch you are looking for.
  • Amalia knew from a young age that she wanted to be involved in the planning industry not for the pretty things, but for the pure enjoyment of seeing her ideas come to life. Born in and raised in Toronto, Amalia began planning family events with her mother, before long she was the go to person in her family and at work. With planning large scale events Amalia began to notice the amount of waste that was created from a single event and with Tiffany they created Talen Events, with the environment in mind. She always says you can have an elaborate event but why does it have to hurt the environment.
